Great Beef Jerky February 25, 2010 Princess Roisin (Seattle) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm from Seattle and used to buy this stuff all the time, I live in Louisiana now. Oberto products ARE sold here, just not the original thin that I like so much. So through the magic of Amazon I can have my jerky that I love so much. It does pull your teeth out to eat it but it's sooo good!!!
Where's the beef? (Peppered Thin Style review) February 26, 2010 Pieter (Brooklyn, NY, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's in this Beef Jerky!
This is the salty, salty, leathery dried beef that many folks have a hankerin' for every now and then.
Overall, I like it...given the context of what it is.
I realize that this is not health food...it's a 'guilty pleasure' for me.
For those concerned with what is actually in this product, please note:
- "~95% fat-free" is derived by dividing the 1.5 grams of fat by the 28 gram (1 Oz.) serving...there are still 15 calories of fat out of the total 70 calories...or ~21%, calorically...in the same serving
- my "Peppered Thin Style" ingredients list is: beef, water, corn syrup, salt, less than 2% of flavorings, soy sauce, yeast extract, MSG, sodium erythorbate & sodium nitrite; pepper is not listed specifically...maybe it is part of the "2% flavorings"?
- the same 28 gram serving has 14 grams of protein, 2 grams carbs, 630 mg sodium and 15 mg cholesterol
- while the Product Description states "made in USA", the package states: "Contains beef from or more of the following sources: Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, Uruguay and the United States"...FYI
I hope that, with the above, consumers can make a well-informed purchase decision!
Turkey February 11, 2010 MyBills (USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
It was a tender and decent tasting jerky with no MSG, however, it was much too salty and that ruined it for me.
Way too much SALT!!! February 26, 2010 Jason (Detroit, MI) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Tasty jerky, but there is WAY too much salt. I read the reviews before I bought it and saw that a few mentioned that it was too salty, but I never thought it would be this bad. Its like eating a thin chewy salt patty with a little jerky mixed in.
Chewy February 26, 2010 R. Han (California United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just bought this when it was listed in the Lighting Deal so I had a great value. The flavor was good, but I tasted more saltiness than peppery. But the biggest drawback was this thing was very chewy. You'd figured it would be easy to cut through since it is thinly sliced, but you really have to dig your teeth into it and chew and chew. Great exercise for your jaw.
